Title: Timing tools
Post by: veeman on April 12, 2005, 03:12:54 pm
I know this has been covered in the archives, but I wanted to see if anyone had an update on where to get the injection pump timing tools (the dial indicator /stem / extension) and the costs.

I have the cam tool and the pump lock pin from a friend.

I read an earlier post from last year mentioning Skyway tools (Jake?) and some model numbers, but I didn't see a definite answer on which model to order.

There are two sets on ebay right now as well.  I'm a little hesitant to go that route because one listing doesn't say for sure it'll work in the earlier pumps.

Any recommendations?  I'm trying to find / borrow the tools locally to get my engine running, but I figure I'll probably just buy them.

Thanks in advance.

I got a dial gauge and the adapter off Ebay for $50.

Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4542091096&category=43989&sspagename=WDVW) is a dial gauge for $55

hmmm, Ohio, too far away for me to lend you mine.  You can buy the whole set from vwdieselparts.com

the cam lock plate seems a bit steep, but then I just use a flat plate or file
the other tools are pretty well priced
