I have completed an installation of a 1.6td eco into a 1996 Toyota pickup. I am not sure it is pumping water. I ran the line from the heater hose to the expansion tank. It fires right up but the lower radiator hose never gets hot? the heater works fine. The temperature gauge shows hot but it doesn't boil over?
The bottom line is I don't understand how this system works.
TIA

the bottom hose is where the thermostat is at so u'd probably have to drive for it to get warm. how do you have everything else hooked up? one side of the heater core should go to the side of the head, and the other side should go to the bottom outlet of the water pump.

The hose from head goes to heater core entrance, the heater core exit goes to water pump with a T off to the toyota expansion tank .

There are two potential alternatives for the thermostat housing (google search)
They both look to be the right shape but have alternate hose outlet directions. I have not gone out and bought either one yet as I'm nowhere near sticking my motor back together yet....
Just some info for you.
