I thought that some of you would like this, and laugh like I did.
I was going up hill in 4th gear, pedal to the medal and maybe going 50mph. I think the person who reported me was in a Toyota Prius.

Ya Josh, you should probably take it to your mechanic and get it fixed... :P
Thats the first time I've seen one of those.
-
thats a great letter.
well, the first couple lines are. i gave up on reading anything past that. please turn that pic right side up

send them the $50 receipt for fill-up with a photo of your ODO and then 16 days later send them your next fill-up receipt with a photo of your ODO showing them that on $50 you went 1000km. attach a note asking if there was anything else they wanted to talk about, like say, police cars idling all day?

then maybe add that you would like to follow up on the person complaining about you with and charge them with harassment .
also if by chance you need to take it in for an inspection ....
on a few of the first generation dodge sites , there's a mod called " valet switch " .
while it kills some power , it also will stop it from smoking till till you flip a switch .
basicly it is a solenoid or vacume switch in the line running from the afc to the turbo , fooling the afc into thinking there is less boost presure than there really is .

now that would tick me off! nieve pencil pushers! thier not doing thier job!
so concerned on getting your address and sending you a letter that they neglected to read further and see that your vehicle is a diesel at the motor vehicle dept.
I'd write back and say if the emmission test station wants to test my vehicle i'd be glad to give you the results!
I know they won't test it but would be great to get a letter from them telling thier counterpart thier an idiot this vehicle is a diesel! in letter form!
well have fun with that!
thanks Duane

Well holy f..king George Orwell, lets all make sure we're keeping an eye on our neighbor and if they out of line well-CALL THE AUTHORITIES!.
This is real scary ***.
-
yea that is scary
and funny at the same time,id be proud of recieving a letter like that
yea,see your mechanic,yea right
just turn down the fuel, say"its an older car,and i just rebuilt the engine"
how do you have to show them its "fixed"???
turn down the pump and say"i found a huge mouse nest in my air filter"

A former co-worker of mine got one of those notes from Cali for his diesel Suburban. Cali was nicer, not expecting any follow-up, just sending a friendly reminder that you've been ratted out. They also were conscious of the fact that he may have been driving a diesel and if so to disregard the note anyhow (why they couldn't have checked his DMV records to see this for themselves, I don't know).
He was understandably proud and considered having the note framed.

its a way to keep the beureaucrats at work(spelling?i dont care, lol)
gotta send you paperwork

thats why they couldnt check the records before sending the letter ,thats someone elses job

haha eff that a prius is worse for the environment than an h2. the one day at work i was talking *** on hybrids, especially the suvs, then i found out my bosses wife drives some ford suv hybrid haha. yesterday he told me i should look into a hybrid since diesel is so expensive, i just laughed and said i don't like them. plus i like old cars better, and i like a car thats shaped like a brick, 30 years old, yet gets the same mileage as a hybrid.

if you price out a hybrid vs an older diesel, the price of diesel would have to be around $5-10 a litre for the hybrid to even look good  (cost of owning an older diesel is in the $1000 range per year plus fuel... if that? whereas a prius would be like $5000-10000 a year with payments and god knows how much insurance!!)

I guess the proper fix would be to turn the fueling up higher so they can't see the plate at all :D

im with this guy... and i'd drive by the neighbors house with the prius and floor it every time while at the same time stepping on the brake a little so you go by slower, more time to leave more smoke...
damn hippies
im just so sick of cali not letting the new TDI's come over here because they are soooo "dirty"
i call BS, they just dont want them to hurt sales of hybrids[/quote]

As far as I know it's that Prius that was flashing their headlights and honking the horn. Anyway, it's not like they found out my name and address, they just called DEQ with a complaint with my plate #, DEQ sent me the smoke notice. Yah, DEQ should of caught the fact that the vehicle is registered as a diesel. What dumb ass's. I think I'll just send DEQ a copy of my REG. That will keep them at bay.
-
here's mine. A guy was riding my ass, i purposely smoked him good, about 5 times.

Between the Rabbit & my Yamaha RD350, I should be expecting one of these letters shortly.

the letter states " compared to other motor vehicles of the same or similar type ".......
so all you need is a few dozen vw's to show up at the same time , emitting similar amounts of smoke :D .......
-
F*&% the government, TURN UP THE PUMP
-
get the mechanic to put an air filter in  none of that crap in the uk,just the smoke test on the MOT for diesels, before i was a tester 8) i just plugged the lda line

California is already setting up random "remote sensing stations".
They can conduct instant emissions tests by shooting UV light beams at the tailpipes of passing vehicles, and then photograph & send fines to the drivers of anyone over the limit.
NOx emissions is what they're looking for in diesel vehicles.
Where California goes, the rest of the world will follow. Photo radar, red-light cameras, now this.

I agree with these letters. You people and all of your smelly diesels that should be taken off of the road. You should all be required to by Denali's and full size pick-ups that you never load as much as a branch into!
Signed
Man who sells gasoline.
By the way, I hope you all know that I am kidding!

I just hope that no one reports me when I fire up my Suzuki GT750 and GT380 two-stroke motorcycles. I know my neighbors wouldn't, they think there cool. Boy do they really smoke up the neighborhood  .

They are doing this in Texas too. I always lift when I go by, just in case.

Every time I fire up the CR500 I think that it smokes terribly. Then I give the RD a few kicks. You'd better hope that it fires quickly or you won't get enough oxygen for it to run on.

A couple of years ago I was pulling away from a stoplight in my 80 1.5na Rabbit where I had a cop right behind me, and I smoked him pretty good, well right when I got to the next light it turned yellow and I went thru (along with 4 or 5 other cars), the cop immediately turned on his lights and I pulled over. He read me the riot act about the yellow light, I told him I didn't think I could safely stop in time and that there were other cars that went thru too, then he got pissed and start complaining about the excessive smoke from my car and that he was going to have it towed to the DOT for inspection, I said "but officer, it's a 25 yr old diesel VW, therefore it smokes". His face got beet red and he stomped back to his car, and I drove away laughing after smoking him out again.

Hi all .. long time no check in .. sorry !!! I got one of these too, from the smog check dept of the peoples democratic republic of Kalifornia ... in my case it was climbing the Waldo grade into SF and I'm dead cert it was an assbite in a Prius. SF is full of Enviro weiners that think their Prius's ( Toyota should change the name to the 'Pious'!!) are just so HOT, HOT!! they explain to me all the time how I'm ruining their air by driving a diesel.
Then I tell them that I get better mpg than they do (55 vs 42) and they don't like that at all!!!!!
Then I tell them that I'm taking my son to Nevada to shoot machine guns and they start shaking and foaming at the mouth while they fall to the ground twitching and flailing their arms and legs and shouting incoharantly: child abuse! water pollution! air pollution!! dead polar bears!!! baby seals!!! tax cuts!!!! global warming!!!! polar ice caps!!!!!! OH the HUMANITY!!!!!!!!!!! ....
I just leave them right there .... once I did call the cops .
I told them that I thought that some Pious driver just got electrocuted by his car.
-
Better fix the electric COAL central with huge emissions before complaining about diesel owner car IMO !!
lol
-
I mean at least the hybrid drivers think they are helping out right?
