Title: '86 golf diesel clicking and white smoke

Ok, I was driving down the highway and the oil pressure light started buzzing and then turned off.....Ever since then the oil light has been off, but there is a clicking noise when I rev the engine and an excess of white smoke.  I was thinking the injectors, but not sure....any suggestions?

you might not be getting enough oil pressure to the head and the lifters are not operating properly because of it. Get a mechanical gauge ASAP and test it. This could be very serious if it is an oil pressure problem.
