Title: AAZ vacuum pump drive question
Post by: starrd on February 23, 2008, 09:36:34 pm
In the final stages of my AAZ rebuild and noticed that sloted portion on the gear drive that mates to the oilpump has noticable wear (385,000km's).  I have replaced the oil pump, but I don't want to mess it up fiting it to the worn gear/drive from the vacuum pump.  Anyone seen this before?  If so, what are the options if any?  I looked in etka but the vacuum pump is listed as one part.  Does anyone know if gears from other VW set-ups (KR/9A) fit the vacuum pump? Like part number 027 115 027/027 115 027A

I know its a long shot, but thought I should ask on the off chance.

I replaced mine on my aaz motor only to discover that a brand new pump looks the same way. The slot on a new aaz pump is not staight across but wieder at each end of the slot. Looking like it is worn out.

If you can post a picture we can probably be a lot more definitive for ya.  Some wear is normal, and they don't really look "normal" to begin with... so it's hard to tell by description alone.
