Title: how fast can i go?
Post by: gldgti on February 22, 2008, 12:47:40 am
hey fellow dieselers....

just thinking about my little mk3 AAZ... so far i've swapped in a 1.6td boost pin turned up the fuel aswell, and have a pug intercooler fitted. my car got rear ended and i'm waiting unttil it gets fixed at the panel shop before i do my 2.5" exhaust, inc downpipe, mandrel bend system.

because of the 'still stock' exhaust, i havn't tried to turn up the boost yet (its running a k14) but it'll spool 12 pounds all the way from 1700-3200revs, at which point the boost starts dropping off.

even so, it really moves along quite well. i never have to shift out of 5th on the highway, even up steep hills (its got an 020 CHD). And, i have a lot of fun with it on the open road, it'll happily go to 75-80(mph) in 4th up a hill and around corners, all at the same time...

so my pondering leads me to this - if its this good now, how much better is it really going to be on a new exhaust, with more boost?

hi, i too have a mk3 with aaz engine but have increased fueling with boost uprated to 1bar and have added a mk3 tdi intercooler and have a remus stainless steel exhaust system with one of the silencers removed. so far I have only managed to get a max of 105mph on my car. shame that, the bleeder runs very well, even on biodiesel mix at 50%.

i can get up to 110 right now with some fuel and 14lbs of boost, front mount cooler helps a little.
