Title: Left Over Part
Post by: jasonsansfleece on February 17, 2008, 07:10:37 pm
Feeling a little daft for asking but where does this belong?

I removed it and painted it along with the rest of the tin and now with the engine reassembled I cant figure out where it belongs.
Probably behind the IP !

That's the small bracket that goes on top of the alternator bracket on an A2.
It connects it to the injection pump bracket.... I keep breaking bolts on that bracket and get a bad vibration noise after they break.

Yep 2 bolts, one has to be short enough it doesn't contact the injection pump gear after it goes through the bracket.
Other bolt goes right into the top of the alternator bracket.
I'm thinking I'll always tighten down this bracket before snugging down the alternator bracket from now on.
That might keep the stress from breaking the bolts.
