I am looking to get rid of my AC compressor and have found that all I need is a different pully for my water pump from a A3 with a ABA engine. If someonw knows where I can get one or what I am talking about please help.
Thanks

Please let me know if the ABA pulley works

there are also several places that sell this online as well.
A VR6 (OBD I) water pump pulley can also be used.
The ABA one is readily and cheaply available new from several sources including the dealer and also Futrell Motorwerks (google it...), they as a matter of fact sell the complete conversion kit.
You won't find one "used" readily available in the US anyways...most cars here were A/C equipped and from what I have found while the non A/C option did exist in CAN, there aren't alot of pulleys sitting around. Best/cheaper to buy new. The Futrell kit I think sets you back about 50.00 bucks in the end. Pulley and belt...

Are you following me Spulen81........;)
Thanks for the help. I will grab one at the dealer in town.

My 94 golf AAZ without A/C has a flat waterpump pully that the serp belt rides on.I supose it would have the belt/pully combo that you are looking for also if you wanted to compare its part # to the ABA pully when you are at the dealer?

Flash319, I'm on way too many forums.. :D

I got the pully and belt in from the numbers that Spulen81 gave and they will not work. Maybe the belt but the pully is wrong. The pully has no grooves in it as it is meant for the back side of a belt. SO this would spin the pump the wrong way.
Andy,
Your 94 is a No-AC with a serpintine on a 1.9 right? I will see if I can get a pully for that setup. I wish I could find a picture showing the setup. hint hint.

This kit has the belt with the grooves on the smooth pulley

from the faq section, some pictures burn posted

Looks like the pulley is striped from the belt grooves
