Post by: redbaronmulisha on January 27, 2008, 11:35:38 am
hello fellow diesel suckers.was discussing cyclinder head modifications that would flow a bit more power.he said could all be done i wanted to hear what the specialists say the mods are listed:
back cut and swirl polish the valves
3 angle valve job
port and polish the head
(obviously getting the head skimmed and arp bolts)

well any feedback would be good

Yep all of those things work. The exhaust ports on these heads need all the help they can get.

good job,i was thinking of getting/making a manifold from engine to turbo  or just hollowing the current 1 out a bit.an equal length manifold would be nice but i cant be bothered with the hassle

Is there any kind of consensus as to which exahaust manifold is better? Mk1 side exit or Mk2 center exit?

mk1 and mk2 TD exhaust manifolds are identical from what I can tell. The NA ones are slightly different with the exit port being more offset on the mk1. I would not refer to them as "side exit" though. Perhaps you mean the Quantum ones?
