Title: The round 4 headlight look on an 1980 Caddy
Post by: Earwig225 on January 26, 2008, 07:19:54 pm
I have a 1980 caddy with square headlights. I would like to get the cool 4 round headlight setup.

Is it a matter of just buying the parts (Grill, lights, buckets) and bolting it in? I thought I heard that since I have the square headlights that this mod is not a bolt in option, but I am not sure.

I saw once a caddy with square headlights and 2 smaller square fog lights built into the grill. The guy told me it was a factory accessory. Is that true and if so any ideas where I can find that?

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I think to do it right you have to replace the radiator support. But you could probably cobble something together less drastically.

You'll also need new fenders. a core support (which is welded in) is usually replaced however you can make your current one work with a welder and a grinder/sawsall.

the square setup with inner foglights is a hella accessory. they come up for sale now and again. if you feel compelled to have more lights, this is the easiest install (for 'factory' look). if you get some nice H4 headlights (squares) instead of the sealed beam stuff that is likely on your caddy then you might not feel compelled to want more light.

the 4 rounds are pretty dated and aren't much of a favourite anymore but to each his own. if you want to do it get a welder, new rad support, fenders as previous posters suggested.

or you can do the cheese install like i did a few years back... will upload a pic for you tonight if i remember. its just sort of a hack job way of doing things. no welding/rad support change... but you do need new fenders. and to the people who know rabbits it looks wrong. but most people don't know rabbits. when i put them on my old GTI immediately i got all the boy racers looking at the car. just depends what you're going for i guess.
