Title: Kudos to Canadian Tire in Ingersoll
Post by: Patrick on January 24, 2008, 03:14:47 am
Last wedneday we headed out for a funeral in Peterborough from an hour west of London. Cruising along about 110 kph heard a bang and a change in noise in a back wheel.  Slowed down , ran the shoulder and got off at the next exit, Ingersoll. Tim Hortons told me where to find can tire, hub was a little warm but not hot, headed for can tire. Turns out a brake shoe came unglued. They had me rolling in an hour and a half with new brakes on the back, and didn't gouge me. Watching the guy through the window, he's worked on a lot of volkswagens and knows what he's doing. Made it to the funeral on time too. Good job guys!!

BTW, the brakes were about 3 years old with 100,000 km on them, and were NOT worn out. Shoe came unglued. Maybe need to check them a little sooner..........

Can't say enough good things about them. Pulled in at 8:15, service manager was there, no mechanics until 8:30. On the road by 10:00. THis is after they open th box with the shoes and find 7" shoes in a box that's supposed to have 6" shoes!!!

Best part of the trip was the stop in London on the way home. 760 km, 40 litres of fuel. Anyone want to do the math??  :)

Yup. Best I've done with the car. AAZ in a mk2 Jetta.  I don't do big road trips much anymore. Usually runs about 47/48 mpg (imperial). Going to drive it until the body falls apart, and find another one to put the engine in if it's still this good!
