Title: help, need parts for a 1993 Golf injection pump ASAP
Post by: vwnewbie on January 22, 2008, 01:41:15 pm
I am helping out a buddy with his Golf and I managed to break the pump plunger when taking apart the fuel injection pump.  I also noticed some scoring on the cam plate so I thought that I would change that piece as well.   I guess I also need a seal kit since that is the reason for taking this thing apart in the first place.
I am located near Victoria BC and would like to know where to get parts either online or the Vancouver area.
I would also look at a used pump if one was around.

Thanks for the help!

I have to ask,
How in the world did you brake the plunger?

well, a comedy of errors resulting in an iron v8 cylinder head falling on it the wrong way.  Just my good luck. :(

NW Fuel Injection in Port Kells/Surrey can get you a seal kit.  And could probably fix the existing pump toute suite as well.

I phoned them and they are willing to sell me a the seal kit for $26.00 and they will sell the plunger and head for a mere $1000.00.  Yes, that's right, $1000.00.
I could go with a rebuilt for $1200.00 but I wouldn't get back any of the core charge of $750 so I would be into a rebuilt for $2000.00.

That's why I'm searching around, just to hope to get something cheaper.  Thanks for the tip tho.

What are they smoking? You can buy rebuilt pumps for much cheaper than that. I bet Giles could rebuild yours for a lot cheaper than $2k. You could find a used one on E-Bay. Lots of choices. I have never seen a plunger for sale by itself though.

Did I see one of the vendors talking about making some via CNC a while back?
