Title: FS: AAZ 1.9L turbodiesel engine Price drop
Post by: Dr. Diesel on January 19, 2008, 08:30:02 pm
I found another nugget of gold in the junkyard. A 1995 AAZ with K03-003 and two stage injectors.

I found a B4 IDI wagon in the junkyard, and after what ended up being quite a battle, managed to persuade the yard owner not to crush it till I had time to yoink out the engine.
Today was the day, and yoink it, I did. (thanks for the help and truck, SMOKEYDUB)

Upon arrival at home, i connected some fuel and electrics (and an exhaust hose!) and tried to start it. I found that all four glowplugs were not lighting, for whatever reason, be it a broken wire in the harness, or that they are burnt out. So I grabbed my heat gun, aimed it into the turbo inlet and started cranking. After 4 rotations it started to cough, then fired up!
I immediated shut it down and went inside for my video camera.

Here's how it starts, coldsoaked to -5C (ignoring the 10 seconds it ran 5 mins before) cold start engaged, full throttle till it catches:

Pretty impressive!

Notice the test light winking out. That's connected to the upper oil pressure switch, which opens when the head sees full oil pressure.

I really only want serpentine belt system, and maybe the pump and related brackets.

I offer up for sale:

Complete engine, everything you see here minus the trans and clutch
$1000

-OR-

Basic engine, just what it takes to run. Includes pump, manifolds, turbo. no accessories
$800

-OR-

Long block, just the head/block assembly, includes valve cover and oil pan.
$600

If you can think of some other combination, I'm willing to consider.
Will consider trades on something(s) interesting.
I'm after old BMW stuff, also would love a complete 20B engine. (if you don't know, don't ask!)

Fine print: Solds as is. I don't know the KM's on this engine. After experiencing 1.9L torque you can never go back to 1.6L... Not responsible for sad, lonely, discarded 1.6L's.

Would you be interested in a 97 Jetta with no engine as trade for the engine with everything minus the trans?  Good body, new tires, new lower control arms, rear shocks, not bad interior.  Front window is cracked bad and trans reverse is pretty much gone.

I'm interested in the transmission, starter and flywheel assuming its an O2A.

I have lots of BMW parts but mainly E36 stuff.  I have an entire '95 M3 I'm parting out right now.. not sure if you need anything.
