does it make any difference if marked notch is placed in front or on back of hole?

No, there are some different marked notch, that do not make a big difference, smaller notch need less travel from the control collar to give X amount of fuel, but how much travel...?  I does not know.

It's not a thing that I take in consideration when I install a head, I play with lever to give proper fueling.
