Title: Seeking confirmation: turbo gas 5-cyl manifolds fit diesel?

I have a line on an intake and exhaust manifold from a 10-valve Audi turbo gasser. Will these fit on the 2.0L diesel 5-cylinder? I recall a thread in which this was briefly discussed, searching for it proved fruitless. Could someone verify if these manifolds will a) physically attach to the diesel head, and b) "fit" in an Audi 4000 engine bay?  :idea:

I have a line on a 5-cylinder N/A engine which I'd like to turbo and place into a quattro 4000, but before any of that can happen I'm determining if these manifolds would help me. I plan on collecting parts for quite a while before attempting this, jackbombay's massive thread has been both inspirational and a good reality check. Thanks much, Jim.

I would love to just knock the manifold off of my 2.0 and take a look, but unfortunately, it is COLD out there and my shop is full.  What you need is to buy/borrow a 2.0 gasket kit, and compare it with a 2.2 gasser.  Should answer your question cheaply.

And, there is plenty of room in the 4000 engine room, since they also came with the 5 banger.  Tell me you are doing a Quattro and I will be green with envy.

Alas for poor Jack a lot of time bad luck and change of circumstances holed his attempts to achieve the QTDQuattro if I remember correctly :cry:

The Audi 5k turbo exhaust manifold lines up nicely on a naturally aspirated diesel, assuming of course that the turbocharger is supposed to be near the rear of the engine.

Not owning a 5k turbo engine, I don't know if it's supposed to be near the front or the back... but if it's front-end, we've got a problem: the turbocharger would smack straight into the oil filter.

Manifolds will fit to engine. Canīt say if gasset turbo location is correct to 4000. I have 2,0TD from ī88 Audi 100 in my ī84 Passat. It was bolt on, air cleaner was only thing that had to be made. Even most of downpipe fit in :)

Pat had a great idea. I went to the Advance Auto Parts website and looked up the part number for intake manifold gaskets for a 1986 Audi 5000 Turbo and a 1983 Audi 5000 Turbo Diesel and the part numbers and image are the same:

Turbinepowered and MJF bring up good points about the turbo location. I figure that since I'll be using a N/A engine I can plumb the turbo as needed. So long as the gasser turbo manifold places the turbo where it won't come in contact with anything on the diesel I think I'll be OK. When I get home I'll look in my Audi 5000, 5000S Bentley to see if there are any illustrations / photos which show the placements of the turbos.

Just looking at the engines (no 4000 here) there should be no problem.

DAMN YOU and your Quattro anyhow.  NOW I have another case of car-lust (200 TQA with 2.5) gone beserk.  Just brought a Golf Country home this week to go 1.6 TD, but I still don't have a low-profile, "handling" AWD diesel (my 5000TD was nice, but FWD automatic so haven't driven it in years).
