that's brilliant mate :) you're only down the road from me too! (i'm in rugby)
don't suppose you've got any pics of the engine mounts and also which box did you use??
-
The 2nd pic down in earlier post shows the mk1 diesel mounting,it bolts straight to the block, the engine and box is mk3 golf, the engine was new in the car i cut up  ,the box mounts swap over easy,no probs at all,the exhaust is the main problem, and your fuel tank can stay as is,the GX has a fuel return to the tank,so just put diesel in the petrol tank, ive done this on a mk1 jetta i converted,it was fine,i even run it right to the empty to see and was fine, the clutch is a 210mm the biggest i could get into the 020 box.
Downpipe on turbo

2.5" stainless with just a rear box

old 1.6TD JR engine i got the turbo off,was going in mk1 but upon removing head to clean it,found cracks bigger than i thought possible, and the bore wear was on top measured limit,so i fell lucky and brought the mk3 golf with new engine and fuel pump.

Whats that Fram box all about?

Whats that Fram box all about?
Hey... don't knock Fram filters so hard. I love them: PH8As on sale for $2.! But I only use them on my solvent tank / parts washer! LOL
Actually Fram could be very useful for initial fire-up, if you're going to change the oil & filter after 2 hours run-in time anyway. Would not use a Fram today for on-road service, unless no decent filter could be found; and then only make a run to go buy a better unit!
Personally preferred filter is NAPA #1714, built by WIX(IIRC their #51714). About 0.6L more capacity than VW's OG filter; similar bypass setting; better gasket; c. same price. Original application: Fiat-IVECO 6.2L TD, in a commercial truck chassis.

 the fram was used for 50 miles  got a mahle on now, usually buy mann or mahle or genuine
Andrew, the bov hole in the intake pipe is plugged with a tight fit plastic cap,the 1.9 manifold is on there so no bov to worry about 8)
And no i havent got a rear mount, the golf GTI one is fitted to mine as its beefier than the diesel one :? the side one is mk1 diesel, and the gearbox one is mk1 diesel, the front podgy one is also standard :P
