Is there a k14 or somwthing on the smaller side thats a good match for a 1.6 thats also water cooled?

Because i cant finf info on turbos that also tells how there cooled.

Late MKII GTDs had Water cooled K14s I think. You'd have to score one in Europe.
If I am not mistaken, Later TDIs (ALH) are water cooled.

Sounds like a possible Look-For when I go to Italy in February. They should have so many of them over there that they may not be priced too high even withthe bad Euro exchange rate. Anyone have other good look-For item ideas that are hard to get over here for tdi's?

that sounds like a good idea.Ive been trying to do some research on different types of turbos,and i keep coming up with the k14.There are different sizes of k14 .I think theres a k14-2 through k14-6,i imagine those are bigger hot sides.Ive also been reading about the bleeder valves to trick the wastegate into not opening.Theres ways of doing it that are safe,so theres no spike in boost.

i went on borgwarner and they say that the kkk s are not watercooled until k24,i didnt see any k14,of course there was not alot of information there.

the garrett T2 on my SB jetta TD is watercooled too :wink:

now is the t2 similar in size to the k14?I always get confused about turbos.I dont have experience with them and im not trying to act like i do.I ask because it seems that the k04 and k03 were used on bigger engines and created more power.From what i know the 14 in k14 is the cold side smallest diameter 1.4''.I could be totally wrong,like i said i dont know.Ive been researching,and ive had trouble coming up with hard solid information on the turbos and how thier used on these diesel engines.Im building a 1.6 td from a 85 na as my core.I know i want the small hot side to spool up quik,and i have been learning about keeping the pressure up (past wastegate),but why is it so confusing to find out how much air a certain turbo will move?I mean why isnt it directly on the housing.Ive seen the volumetric efficiency charts and tryin to read those is like rocket science.

you might be abel to make a hybrid warercoled turbo by using something that has a water cooled center cartrage and put your choice hot and cold sides on out of different KKK's!
i know some K26's from audi 5000 are water cooled!
also before i put the K26 on my caddy i had a small IHI watercooled turbo on it! i wished i still did because it spooled faster

yes i definetly want something with a smaller hot side.I want to be in boost all the time.Then again theres always a trade off unless you use vnt.I dont think im going that rooute since their so expensive
