Went to fill up this morning and discovered the price of diesel has gone up to $1.22/ litre. Is it that high everywhere? Gas at the same place was only $1.06. I did the math and it's nearly as cheap to drive my gasser Jetta with the difference in the price of fuel. Looks like the Diesel might be getting a rest this winter.
-
yea the pricing is pretty dirty... i'd never switch back to gas though, although they do warm-up quite a bit quicker...
-
Dang, its below $1 here
-
$3.29/gallon here.
-
3.39 - 3.49 gallon here.......stinkin IL road tax.....
-
yep $3.49 a gallon here in milwaukee wisconsin
Duane
-
$3.59 in mid coast Maine
$3.68 for B20
I recollect diesel always being cheaper than gas.
What is going on?
-
Heating season is going on :(
-
The Shell station near the house Is $3.69
Ya think Shell fuel is any better than the Marathon, etc? I was able to talk to a Shell rep guy who says they are proud of the fact that their fuels exceed the additive levels on all there fuels. He says their diesel is in the 45 range for cetane.
-
$1.06/l here up from 0.96/l
-
I filled up yesterday for $1.175/L but our regulated price changed today and I'm not sure what it is...afraid to look in all honesty. Gas went up, so I suspect diesel did as well.
-
Been 1.05/l for a while, just went up to 1.07/l a few days ago. Gas is 1.00/l.
-
That's what I don't get. Your gas and diesel are close price wise. While the diesel here is $3.29, the gas is $2.67, a big difference.
-
In Quebec city most are at $1.20 but the local gas bar has it at $1.17. They are always 3 cents below prices elsewhere.
When I had my first diesel in the early 90's, fuel was 10c a liter cheaper than gas, which it should be. Now all the trucks and heavy equipment like snow moving machinery have to fill up at these over-inflated prices and guess who gets to pay for it eventually!

Don't forget that in the winter the price of diesel historically goes up due to supply and demand. (Increased heating oil consumption because of temperatures)
But yes I remember when I was a kid looking at signs with diesel being at 49c a litre.
I can't find a historical graph of Canadian gas prices. But if someone can find me some data I can make one.

Count yourselves lucky. £1.05-£1.10 per litre in the UK!
-
last time i filled up(2 weeks ago) it was 3.69 i think...around there
-
just as a visual aid to help people:
1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litre
£1.05-£1.10 per litre
1.05 GBP = 2.08279 USD as of today.
3.7854118 x 2.08279
So... if you think our fuel prices are high, people in the UK pay around
$7.88 per gallon of fuel.

Yes, but they do have nice, well posted roads to drive on and it does not cost $12000 to buy health insurance for your family.
I probably should'ent have said that!
-
Don't worry it looks like we'll end up paying for our health care soon AND getting screwed worse than you on fuel. ;)
-
1.13 here at pumps. I recently sourced a deal with a trucker for 90 cents per liter. Gas is 1.04.
I would still drive the diesel at 1.50
-
On the interstate it's $3.11, in town it's $3.35.
You know, those folks in countries with the highly taxed fuel (and universal healthcare and transit systems) will just never know the thrill we get from never knowing if the highway bridge we are driving over (or under) is going to stay up or not. Driving is more exciting here. ;)

a MKII GTD in good shape costs +- 2000/2500€...

What is going on!?I remeber being in high school.I drove diesels all through high school (my first two cars MK2 vws)I thought i had the world by the balls. When gas prices would go up(to$1.99)diesel would always remain the same low price.I dont know i just remeber that feeling of ,getting away with murder. Now it seems like big brother has caught on.I graduated in1999,and havent drove a diesel since.but still octane prices are driving my build.
