Post by: spencebm on December 08, 2007, 10:50:34 pm
I was curious if anyone knew how much a mk2 jetta weighs in comparison to a rabbit?

Not sure about the rabbit, but my '92 jetta 4 door has been on a scale. 1.9 idi, 5 speed, no air, 15"bbs rims, a hair over 2500 lbs. I'd bet on a rabbit being much lighter.

A stock jetta is about 2200-2500. Speaking of weights, I wonder if a truck scale on the side of the road would let me weigh my car?

The weights vary depending on if A/C is installed, auto/manual trans, turbo/NA, etc. But basically, the Mk1 is around 2,200lbs, the Mk2 is closer to 2,500lbs, and the Mk3 approaches 2,800lbs.

Rabbits stripped for racing have gone below 2,000lbs.
