Title: Anyone in Toronto area with a CAM locking tool?
Post by: wikdslo on December 06, 2007, 06:15:37 am
I have to reset the timing again on me car this Saturday after I replace some motor mountage.

The only tool I don't have is a CAM locking plate, and if anyone around Toronto/east end (pickering, ajax, whitby) has one that I could borrow, it would be greatly appreciated!

I used a piece of steel plate, I forget the thickness, just tried a bunch till i found one that didn't wiggle, worked fine

Yeah, i'm thinking that will be my backup.
No guarantee i can find a suitable piece of metal to do the job though!

Then get metal that's close and shim as necessary with a couple feeler gauges.

10mm Craftsman open end wrench works quite nice.

Or close to that will work.

Just turn it over by hand a couple time before, just to double check that the valves aren't dancing on the pistons.
