A PD can't me made into a mechanical engine, correct?

you absolutely need the ECU to run the motor.

BUT you can also trick the ECU with resistors on each sensor wire and just run it as is.  it won't perform like a PD should, but it will run! and better than a m-TDI  :wink:

no MAF's etc.!!!  you will probably get black smoke under load though.

I was wondering as I saw one on e-bay that a guy in Denver is selling, meaning no shipping. It has a harness, but no ECU. But I don't want any electronics, so I guess it's out.

If you check on Ebay.fr, uk, etc..  you can find a PD ECU for a very good price.

I bought a spare ECU from PD130 for 200$ include ship.

no electronics at all then you definitely want to go m-TDI
