Its used on 96-97 AAZ and ALH TDI to lock the inj pump for installing the timing belt.The 1Z and AHU TDI use the same pump lock tool as older diesels up to 95.

That pin is used to lock the cam sprocket on the PD engine. This is the same pin used to lock the injection pump sprocket on the ALH engine
