well theres 1 bolt behind the pully for the intermediate shaft, that i can get on, none of the holes in the pully line up, and its too close to the pump to get a wrench on the bolt, how do i get it off? its the only bolt holding it on

i gave up on trying to remove just the pump itself, so i tried the 4 bolts that hold everything to the block, i have 3 out, but the inside top bolt, just under IP, i cannot get a tool on for the life of me, ive tried every combination of 1/4 drive including swivel sockets, 3/8 drive w/ swivel sockets, and there isnt enough room to get a wrench in. do i have to remove belt and IP now? plz help, i only have about 45 min of day light left and i really need to get this done today. thanks!

if youremove the water pump and housing as one unit, you do not need to take off the timing belt. You will need to remove the alternator, AC compressor (if you have one), alternator bracket (ac bracket if you have it), and then the water pump housing with the water pump attached. Its probably best this way as those bolts like to break really easily. This way you can use heat (torch) on any stubborn bolts without worry of catching anything else on fire. HTH

i have the alt. ac. taken off, i have 3 of the 4 bolts that hold the water pump to the block off, the last one, which is the top inside bolt, right under IP i cannot get a tool on, is there some crazy dance and prayer that i have to do to get it off?

you need a wobbly 13mm socket to get that one off.

well i finally got it off, i ended up pulling the IP, didnt really want to, but i had no choice, and thank God i did, that bolt was so rusted, it was so close to breking off, i had to work it back and forth and keep spraying PB blaster on it, and after about 45 min, it finally came out, looks like hell though, but its off, so thanks for the help!
