Title: aaz 97 k03 staight turbo swap

Hi im new here and have owned a couple of aaz golfs im now on a 97 golf estate been running lovely after the normal tweaks but unfortunatly started using oil and smoking and boom there goes the turbo .

I have another identical turbo and wish to fit myself ive dont searches and cant find any info , is this a easy job are there any step by step guides with pics preferably

bump on this so i dont have to pay large garage bills plus i have spare aaz cylinder head and turbo too

It's a pain in the ass but there is definitely nothing magical about the procedure

Rusty bolts and the hard to reach ones that hold the turbo to the manifold are what make it hard. 12mm 12pt I think. You need a shallow socket

This isn't a watercooled turbo is it?

not sure if its water cooled but there looks like a bolt missing from downpipe to turbo

hi i have a 97 golf AAZ and the K03 has a 3 bolt downpipe flange dosnt it???  the  one on mine has a 4 bolt ..... did you have to get a differnet downpipe>> i also have a K03 and was going to do the swap but dont know how much work is involved....mine has coolent lines but i was just going to plug then and just run oil.....any sujetions??
