Title: Exhaust piping seal
Post by: Op-Ivy on November 03, 2007, 06:56:47 pm
I just replaced the seal that fits on the "toilet bowl". It now leaks constantly during idle. Before it would only seep a bit when revved.

I used new clips too. Is this normal?  Seems to me like something isn't right.

Thanks, Matt

it may need time to get broken in and seal itself, i put a new one in mine and it worked great.  give it some time maybe?

I have used one of those seals.  It did not look like the old one.  The new one looked like a round hunk of lead with wire mesh all through it.  Sealed worth ***.    I figured that it had to get nice and hot to help it "seat" in.  I ran it hard and hot.  It sounded much better the next day.

Well, it has been nearly a week since I replaced the seal and clips and it leaks just as much. Way more than before. I can see a cloud in front of the headlights when warming up at idle :(

Any suggestions? Should I replace the seal or just take it off and put some more sealant on it?

I almost passed out on the way to school this morning because of the fumes!

(just joking)

Thanks, Matt
