Title: Is it common for hard line fittings to leak after removal?
Post by: evolveVW on March 07, 2005, 07:35:33 pm
I took the hard lines off to changes the glow plugs and now that they are back on both leak a little at the injectors, and one is dripping at the pump.  Did they not seat correctly when I tightened the fittings?  Please help as the hell that was my water pump install is over and I just want to drive my car!

It is possible that they did not seat properly. Try loosening off the flare nuts to the leaking lines, and retighten them.

unloosen the nut, push the steel line in toward the fitting and tighten the nut again. they are somewhat tight toque, snug em up then give a little extra torque. you should be ok unless you cracked a line

The inj line would need to be loosened off on both ends,If you tightened one end before seating the other end chances are that one or both ends will leak.To get both ends centered properly you just need to tighten each end by hand and wiggle the line when doing so, then you can snug them both
