Title: Aligning spline on throttle assembly
Post by: regcheeseman on October 30, 2007, 06:10:22 am
Like a idiot I forgot to mark the spline position on the throttle assembly as I took it apart to do the governor mod.

Can anyone help - is there a baseline setup?

With the pump top on and throttle arm off, rotate the shaft with a screwdriver. You can get an idea of the max and zero throttle positions this way and place the arm on accordingly. It's pretty straight-forward once you know how far the shaft rotates in either direction.

If I get the throttle arm on roughly in the correct position, can I adjust the two screws (max and min stops) to get back to factory settings or would it be better to keep refittin the throttle arm until it's right. It's a bit tricky to get that top spring on, though I guess I could omit the spring until I'd found the right spline position?

My vote would be to omit the spring and get the orientation right, then mark it and reassemble with the (damn) springs.

I don't think playing with the min/max screws will give you the best end result.... but I've never tried it personally.
