Title: tdi timing with indicator
Post by: uss sterett cg31 on October 23, 2007, 04:02:34 pm
is there a specification for setting the pump timing using an indicator?
I have done countless idi 1.6 diesels and its a shame the TDI has to use a scanner. I was thinking of checking the lift before I remove the belt and then using it to set it up afterward. this is an 1998 TDI Jetta.
any ideas ?

i would imagine that you need to set everything up to a certain state and then start the motor up, and the computer will reset the timing.  if you really want to use your dial indicator why not switch to m-TDI?
