Do you have a link to the Dutch diesel bike?
-
Yep, there's this thread on TDI Club:
http://forums.tdiclub.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=945346&an=0&page=0#945346
...which in turn has this good link:
http://www.vw3literlupoclub.com/1200_TDI_motorfiets.html
I bought the March issue of 'Sport Rider', has a decent article on the bike.
Seems pretty cool 8)
As for the military bike, F1 Engineering appears to be building them:
http://www.f1engineering.com/diesel%20bike%20specs.html
They used to have another page dedicated to the development of a civilian version, but they appear to have given up on that idea due to lack of funding & interest
So if you know of a way I can get my own M1030M1, PLEASE let me know :!:
Edit:
VWRacer, just realized you're in SF area...wanna slip over to Hesperia & grab one of those military bikes for me?
How much weight will USPS ship anyway...?
Seriously, I wonder if/when/how ya might find one at a surplus auction someday?

Cool...thanks! Here's another link with a bunch of diesel motorcycles, including at elast one 1.6TD motorcycle!

Enfield India has been marketing a diesel bike based on a Rotax single for nearly 20 years now. It gets a claimed 350mpg but with a ground shaking 18HP it`ll take you a while to get there. In addition, they`re sold only in the home market of India,...

The last bike on that page, Harold Benich's Harley Davidson, is quite a piece of work.
Also seen here:

I've seen this bike in person at a local diesel conversion gtg, and it's amazingly well put together.
The 3cly Perkins even retains close to the original HD sound :P
Honestly if you didn't know what you were looking at, you'd be hard pressed to tell anything special about it. Very nice work piecing it together 8)
