Title: what to take from a A3 TDI?
Post by: slorimer on October 15, 2007, 09:53:41 am
I have a 94 AAZ and I may have access to a 97-99 TDI for parts.  Are there any particular parts I should grab to upgrade my car.  So far I'm thinking wheels, alternator (cluthed) pulley, maybe crank pulley.  Anything else useful.  Are the seats in the TDI's better, any other engine parts worth taking?  I'm fairly new to Jetta's and diesels but I've been reading a bit.  TIA

If I were you I'd be looking to take the whole engine, trans, wiring, ecu, cluster, steering knuckles, front brakes....everything else is secondary.

Leave the radiator cap and take everything else.

(on 2nd thought you may need the radiator cap someday)

I don't think the crank pulley from the TDI will fit on you AAZ without modification to the crank end. That's the rumor i hear anyway......

Agreed, I was planning for the TDI pulley crank mod at some point, that's why.  Thanks for the responses, sounds like those cars/engines are golden.

I would grab the front brakes (spindle, calipers, carriers...) and install them on your 94. I don't know where you are located but early canadian MK3s had the same brake setup as MK2, 9.4" brakes. Later MK3s had 10.1" brakes.
