Title: 1.6TD fitment in a mk1
Post by: silvertdi on October 10, 2007, 06:19:30 pm
Is the mk2 1.6TD a direct drop in?  Any modifications to the body, etc?  Thanks.  :)

The engine mounts are different between the two but not much else.  If you have all the mounts from the MK 1 the should be good.

you will need a mk1 diesel style engine mount that has the ip bracket on it as well.

also all the coolant sensors/flanges are different as well. Just swap on NA ones from a mk1.
The air box will give you troubles and you will probably have to move the fuel filter.

the parts snags for me were:

- mkI TD downpipe (bought a 2.5" one from passenger performance)
- mkI TD airbox (got one from burn your money)

another thing to consider is fuel filter location. proper spot for mkI TD is right by the downpipe with a heat shield but i did not use that location.
