Title: power vs. engine/gearbox?

Hello,

I would like to do some mods on my 1989 golf gtd (lda,gov. mod,intercooler, 10mm plunjer,more fuel, higher turbo pressure,injector timing,... And in the future (very) maybe a VNT17 turbo) How much hp will i get from these mods(approx.)?
And  more important: can the engine hold it? I know you'll have to put a metal head gasket and an other clutch, but can the gearbox, drive shafts and engine hold the power?
