Title: which cam followers to buy?
Post by: Barry W on September 18, 2007, 09:50:04 pm
I need to pick up some new cam followers(lifters) for my 91 1.6TD head. Someone said that there are lighter lifters I should buy from a newer VW, which ones were those?

different alloy?  lighter meaning less meat where it is needed most?  lifters on TDI's get abused from the pointy camshaft and probably need more meat in that area to cope with the stress.  but then again maybe the lighter lifters are ok?  i'm going with stock TDI lifters though...

Don't worry, if the gasser lifters can take high revs with aftermarket cams I'm pretty sure they'll take the abuse from a low revving diesel with a stock cam.
