Title: 1.6 TD IP in 1.6 Non-Turbo
Post by: vegfuel on September 15, 2007, 10:15:08 pm
So there's this guy who wants like about $700 for a rebuilt 1.6 TD injector pump, nine rebuilt injectors and spare metal fuel lines. My Rabbit could use the rebuilt injectors as well as a rebuilt pump. My only thought is that will a will a 1.6 TD pump work on a 1.6 non-turbo? Wouldn't the timing be different? I also thought this price was a little too good for a rebuilt pump and rebuilt injectors. A rebuilt pump alone usually costs upwards of $700 not to mention how pricey injectors are.

The parts to rebuilt a pump, assuming no major assemblies are worn, run between 30 and 50 bucks... it's all about labour and testing.  I generally spend over an hour cleaning the exterior of the old pump before I even begin.

Same goes for rebuilding injectors... the nozzle assemblies themselves are cheap, but it takes time to pop test them and calibrate.
