Are these still being made for the TD? I had someone tell me not to bother with the sodium filled stems anymore. I dont know about that. I thought they offered better heat disapation.
Whats the best price you guys have come up with for a set of intake and exhaust valves for the 1.9 TD? Prices seam to be all over the place. I dont care about the stem size, I will live with 1mm bigger stem. The heads getting ported anyway.
On a slightly different note,
Does anyone know if the hydraulic lifters are the same part number from 1.6 to 1.9?

The MK4 2.0 lifters are lighter than the MK2/MK3 lifters, only cost a bit more and are a direct fit on a 1.6 or 1.9 diesel engine.

Did you find that out through experience or through a etka type program?
Are there any other applications that use the same valves as the 1.9IDI?
Anyone have an etka and mind checking? If I can source a part for a US car, I can get it from a friend at the auto parts store at his cost.
So are the sodium filled valve stems worth the extra cash if you plan on running hard? I was planning on having the exhaust valve face ceramic coated anyway.

I read somewhere that stainless valves were better than the sodium filled.
Sodium filled was good technology for 1970 or 1980 but todays tech is better.
Note: I read that in regards to Porsche 914 exhaust valves. Jake Raby who is the a top VW Type 4 engine builder uses stainless on every engine. I'm sure that those aircooled engine valves take worse abuse than ours. (maybe debatable??)
Take it with a grain of salt cuz ya cant believe everything you read on the internet. :D
Oh, also sodium filled valves cant be resurfaced, have the potential to burn (catch fire), and are very expensive and probably difficult to get.

So does anyone have any info on stainless valves that are the correct size? I am guessing that someone must have spec'ed them before.
