Post by: Riverfurm on August 26, 2007, 11:52:38 am
Almost ready to swap out the 1.6 NA for a for a Turbo 1.6 in my 86 Golf.
Turbo engine is from a 85 Jetta with solid lifters and a Garret turbo with about 30,000 miles on it. So far it has a Giles pump, Passenger 3"down pipe, boost gauge, egt gauge(installed sensor before turbo), pop off valve on intake has been shimmed shut and a boost control valve.

PM items, valve adj.,pump timing, timing belt, water pump, belts, clutch & prs plate replace

Items left... block heater and likage kit for shifter and trip to the exhaust shop.

Can anyone think of something elese?????

Everything good on transmission side.... both seals, clutch, pilot shaft seal, throwout bearing, flange bearings ??   Heck of a lot easier to change things now than later !!

Motor mounts in good shape ??

CV joints OK ??

Good time to replace all the shifter bushings. It's a PITA to do with the engine in.
