Title: VIDEO Rabbit TD second gear burnout
Post by: Dr. Diesel on August 25, 2007, 12:31:28 pm
Kinda hard not to call this one a smoke tale. Leaving Smokeydub's house the other day, he comes trotting out with his camera phone declaring he was going to take a video. Clearly, he wanted some action, and I'm not one to be accused of not putting out. Reverse to 2nd gear outta do the trick...

here's the aftermath:

Have you ever had problems with 5th gear? I've heard that the 1.9 can shred them at will.

nah. contrary to what this video might indicate, I'm actually quite gentle to my transmissions. I've NEVER grenaded one. I don't think they die from absolute power so much as they die from the shock of abrupt power application.

What did you rev to before dropping the clutch?

I'd estimate 3800-4000. No tach yet.

ouch... downshifting is fine.  my 3rd gear is great... i can slap it right in as soon as i'm done with 2nd.  tranny was pretty sticky until i changed the tranny oil.  lubed up the linkage, and i can get very quick shifts in :)
