Title: Which is TDC?

I'm assuming the groove in the back of the flywheel that has a white paint mark is TDC, but what's the raised boss just ahead of it?

It should be a V shaped notch. That's not it in the pic.

The painted spot is a v-shaped notch that flares out at the bottom.
