Title: Timing a new 1.9 NA engine w/ 1.6 injectors and pump?
Post by: jettablue on August 20, 2007, 10:07:25 pm
I have a timing question for those who have done 1.9L NA (Overland) conversions.

I have a new 1.9 engine, currently set up with stock rebuilt 1.6L injectors and a stock used 1.6L injection pump.  It will be running everything from B20 to B99 biodiesel in a 1985 Jetta

Where should the timing on this engine be set?

thanks!

Are you using a NA pump and NA injectors as well?

I would probably just set the timing at around .9 to 1mm. The timing setting has more to do with the pump than the engine itself as it dictates the cam plate lift at TDC and where peak pressure occurs.
