Title: Chroming injector lines ?
Post by: stewardc on August 17, 2007, 05:33:42 am
Has anyone ever plated, coated or chromed their injector lines? I have an AAZ now, and the Giles pump is painted semi-gloss black. I'm having a valvecover chromed, and need something on the injector lines for good contrast.
What have you done????

Stewardc, the chrome injector lines would look sharp.

I haven't done anything with mine, and never would have thought of doing anything to them, but cool idea.

stewardc,
I got chromed injector lines, valve cover, and timing cover!for a 1.6n/a! they look nice but im afraid to use the lines because when they polish they take material off! and they look a little thin in some areas! if it's just for show and not for everyday use then do it ! I suggest try powder coating! if you want it to look nice and you use it everyday! thats what i will try next! i'm gonna leave the chrome ones i have on the shelve right next to my B.A.E. set up!
 thanks Duane

maybe just chrome brand new injector lines?  i want to powder coat my stuff.

i personally think that the chrome would peel off due to the vibrations and bending of the lines...

Are they steel or aluminum?  Maybe anodizing them would be an option?

the injection lines are steel since they rust.

powder coating would be sweet... that stuff will last forever!

yeah, I did use the chrome powdercoat on my G-60 valve cover on the 1.6, but I'm worried that the thickness of the chrome will mess up the nuts on the Inj. lines.

what about ceramic coat? or send the lines out and have the nuts chromed and then have the lines powder coated or something like that! that would look good chrome nuts and engine color matching lines?
 thanks Duane

Ceramic is brittle think coated steel sinks dented...
gold plate or brass plate...

I powder coated the IP lines on Malones engine and a few other local guys lines around here, looks sharp.
