Title: "Idle spring" on bosch VE pump.
Post by: DieselSNubbe on August 28, 2023, 05:23:15 am
Hello fellow dieslers!
I have an old jetta 87 that i put a 1.6 td from a golf into. Everything works good except it wants to hang and sometimes run away at rpms over 2500. I heard that the idle spring could be stretched out to fix the problem and so i did. The fix worked for a while but now the problem is back, i guess the spring has been compressed again. Ive tried searching for a new spring online but i cant find one and i cant find a part number for the spring either. Does anyone know where i can find one or what part number it has?
Im not sure how to post pictures here so if someone could help me with that I could post a picture of the spring im talking about.

Thanks in advance!

Use a third-party site to post your picture.  Send it to Imagur or Dropbox.  Then when writing a message use the box under the bold button to insert a link.  Copy the link from the picture place and insert it between the two types of image brackets.

You might try to put a washer in next to the spring and increase the tension that way.  Rather than pull on the spring and have it return to its original size over time.
