I've never seen a diesel performance cam that really boosts HP,so performance numbers will mean nothing.

The two biggest things you will notice is a fairly noticeable EGT drop, which leaves you room for more fuel, which will make more power, and quicker spool up,so it lights the turbo off faster.

Would that cam work in the 1.9TDI as well?  As well, where does it bias the rpm range toward?

935racer can supply TDI cam regrinds. I had one for my ALH TDI, never tried the cam but a local has one in his MK3 Jetta TDI (1Z I believe) and he seems to really like it. More airflow is noticed in the mid-high RPM range. I don't have the exact cam details i.e. lift, duration #.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to keep that in mind, and I'll pass that along to my tdi bretheren on the "other" site.

hey guys can you regrind aspecific cam to tdi duration etc?.. ie i had modified agasser cam like simon cooper did to run on my tdi but i think the duration will be too much for th etdi and a turbo.. i had copied the side lob profile of the stock tdi cam eand compared to the gasser cam the tdi lobes were very pointy if i could get some one to grind the gasser lobes to match the pointy tdi lobes that would be cool. i had ground a cam lock slot in teh back of the cam when teh #1 cyl lobes were both equally up in teh air ha..its approximate so i hope its close..any how i also have my machinist making a conical cam key way to make using a gasser cam in a diesel easier... also my pistons are getting 2 mm reliefs for the valves in the stock relief area.. in the piston teh cam was based on a factory g gring billet but it had more lift and duration aka a nuespeed 272 cam solid lifter. the solid lifte cam has eth same base circle and if it wasn't a 272 i would run as a g grind like simon did...in fact i have a g grind i want to try like that too..so can you guys do it for me or make a whole cam  with similar specs..let me know  and if you want pm or email me
[email protected]
thanks
Deo

I can grind you a cam to your spec, however I have tried several grinds to come up with what I have now, and they are awesome, but if you want something specific I can deffinately do that. :D

Most definately, I have ground 1 d24 cam, costs a bit more due to the extra lobes, but you can get either stage 2 or 3 in the d24 application.

\As I am sure you know Deo that WILL require piston maching, but I can definately give you that extra lift :)

howdy, I looked at your website but it was undergoing upgrades. How much does a camshaft for a 1.6L NA cost? thanks

Im hoping Dave is still making these cams.

I want to get one going next week. Stage 3+ if possible. Something where I wont have to notch the pistons (my pistons are already balanced and coated)

I just figured it would be good to bring this back to the top...and try to get Dave's attention.

AFAIK Dave is still around, but I think his focus is on TDI stuff now. They tend to spend more money.

Dave was nice enough to tell me where he had the cams made. If you ask he might do the same. Im not sure if he wants me just freely giving out that info.

Man..it was 2 years back when I was looking for one?? I lost mine (from when he started doint it) in my basement and 2 subsequent moves..and Im still looking for one.

Id just like to get a cam card for one...then I wouldnt have to go to Canada for one.

The IDI cams and our TDI cams were done by the same source; Colt Cams in Langley/Abbotsford, B.C. www.coltcams.com. They're cool guys to deal with. They're slow with e-mail so maybe giving them a call is better.

Colt Cams is already popular at tdiclub.com and I don't think Dave will mind this info being available.
