Title: Biodiesel and fuel lines...
Post by: dankcorey22 on November 09, 2010, 10:11:14 pm
Okay my friend makes bio fuel and he gave me 5 gallons (B100) i added it to about 6 gallons of D2

The result: after 1 week (i have not added anything to my tank yet) i notice a big leak from my lines. it was my return line. i put new rubber lines on there and when i was changing my fuel filter i noticed all the rubber on my lines was getting softer...

my cars is a 99.5 i guess that is when VW still made the lines natural rubber. is that why the biodiesel is getting ate up?

Any input is appreciated

The fuel lines should be replaced with Viton fuel hoses.

I've been running B-100 in my caddy for about 5 years. I use the transparent blue polyurethane fuel line that you can buy at most motorcycle shops. It has a temp rating of -65 f to 220 f. Another good line I use on my old ford IDI and my old cummins is nylon air brake line, mostly just for supply and return. For the injector jumpers on the ford and caddy I use the transparent blue polyurethane so I can keep an eye on any air bubbles.

If the bio has eaten my fuel lines on the inside will it hurt the pump? since the bi-product of the bio eating the line.
