Title: Will a 1992 1Z ecu work with a 1995 1Z car?
Post by: HirMiller on August 26, 2007, 05:24:00 pm
I bought a 1995 Golf 1.9 tdi 1Z engine for my brick, got the loom, sensors, ecu, key transponder but no key.

I am on a tight budget and don't really want to fork out £135 to remove the Immobiliser.

I have an option on a 1992 Audi 80 1Z ecu which doesn't have Immobiliser, I did notice the air mass meter is different to the engine I have, it is the old type, not the hot wire type. Does this mean it won't work with my engine??

Has anyone experienced this? or even better does anyone know a more affordable way of getting around my issue?

£135 is daft just to remove the immo    It's cheaper to buy a new ECU that comes with the key.

I don't know if an Audi 1Z ECU will work with a Golf engine - check the wiring diagrams maybe?
