Title: Turbo help
Post by: carrizog60 on June 21, 2020, 07:14:07 am
Hi
Got a nissan terrano 2.7 td and i lan on changing the turbo as the one that came stock as seen better days.
I have her a k16 from a mercedes atego but really dont know if it will work right as the atego is a 4.3liter engine...
The sizing of the k16 are:

Compressor
In-44
Ex-62
Turbine
In-51
Ex-46

I want to be able to have a nice spool from down rpm for 4x4 but still some poke on normal roads...

Thanks in advance

Totally unfamiliar with this engine.  No help from the uneducated.

I would think that a turbo from a 4.3L engine fitted to a 2.7L engine would be horribly laggy if you can even get it to generate any boost at all.  That's my best guess without any specific familiarity with the engines or turbos in question.

The 4.2 engine is from a small truck, max torque is achieved below 1500rpm.
It has surge port so I guess it spools faster and needs to vent it.
Visually it isn't a "big" turbo...
