Title: Timing sprocket bolt torque
Post by: jimfoo on September 28, 2014, 06:47:42 pm
On my MTDI, I have a TDI sprocket, and so have a TDI bolt, I think ALH. Anyway, I looked up torque, which said 88 ft lbs and 90 degrees. The bolt is threaded all the way, and doesn't look like a stretch bolt at all. I got it to the 88, but there was no way in hell I could go 90 degrees. So I'm wondering if this bolt has a different torque spec? It is somewhere above the max 150 ft lbs my torque wrench goes to, and while I don't want it too loose, I don't want it too tight either.

Ha! guess I had this question before, about 6 years ago. Guess it's an AHU bolt, and like last time, I tightened it too tight. Crap.  http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=12828.msg90598#msg90598
