Title: M-TDI Vanagon glow plug wiring

Looking for some pointers on an overview of a good way to to glow plug wiring on an M-TDI Vanagon AHU install.

Best to use a stock TDI glow plug relay, and just do it like it was originally?  I haven't looked at the wiring diagram yet, but would that relay be signaled by the "ON" position of the ignition switch and then it would go off automatically based on engine temp?

On each of my mTDI vanagons, I installed the mk2 glow plug relay and wired it up just like the stock diesel vanagon.  On my AHU, I used the stock diesel vanagon aluminum coolant flanges with the stock diesel vanagon temp senders for glow plugs and gauge.  I had to modify the bypass hose, tho, as the angle is different when the flange is mounted to the center of the AHU head.  If yours was originally a gasser, you can get the relay plate and fusible link from VW.  You can wire the glow plug light to the OXS circuit of the cluster.

Bosch makes a complete kit also, when I did a gad to diesel on a caddy that was a turn key

Andrew what's the reason you use the old Vanagon diesel coolant fitting and sensor?
Is there something about the stock TDI sensor that won't work?

There are a few reasons I prefer the metal flanges and stock sensors.  The main reason is that the plastic flanges are much more prone to failure.  Next is that the wiring is mildly more work with the need to run grounds also.  Last is that I do not believe the resistance curve is the same for sensors but I would have to look it up to confirm.
