Title: Home made tool for tightning cold advance torx fasteners with pump in car
Post by: BGA on October 31, 2010, 07:16:27 am
My 1.6 IDI was harder and harder to start. I found fuel dropps under IP. The cold start device was leaking. I coudnt untigthen the torx bolts due to bad gripp with the low head torx-30 bolts and very limited space. Finaly I made a tool as shown on following pics (I hope):

After fitting new o-rings I used ordinary hex head bolts which could be tighted with a standard tool.
Now engine is a fast starter. The leak caused a pressure dropp in pump wich was enough to make it hard to start.

Totally agree... moving to the FAQ section and adding a link from the main FAQ thread... nice work!

No Andrew. I didnt made it that sofisticated. Both bolt and nut are solderd together to get a better gripp for the spanner. I used a wedge between named bolt and pump housing to get gripp in the torx. All soldering was done with silversolder to keep temperature as low as possible, to keep steel as hard as possible.
