Title: Oil Grade
Post by: wpoggyer on September 07, 2015, 09:07:57 am
I have a 2.0 170 touran which is DPF removed and remapped, now I have taken out the DPF, can I get away with a normal 5/30 oil or is the PD low ash oil still needed to stop cam wear?

I'm guessing that's a common rail engine, so PD style cam wear is not an issue.  There's a thread over on TDIClub about this exact subject; you should be able to run a normal synthetic DIESEL RATED oil (API-CJ4 rating) safely, such as Rotella T6.

Thanks for the reply, I will have a look on the TDI club forum.
