Title: Non diesel question for a diesel 1.6 block

What is the max over-bore on a 1.6l diesel? Can it be bored out to 81.5mm?

I have a set of g60 rods/pistons. If the diesel block can be bored out, Id have a fresh block for my used pistons. This is for a gas turbo setup.

I take it you want to use a hydraulic lifter 1.6 block? Otherwise you would be limited to a 1.6/1.7 head as it doesn't have the second oil return. Keep in mind you'll need a 1.8 crank. The G60 rods are cut for the 1.8 rod journals. I don't know about block clearance either, but I would guess it would work... I can't say I've ever heard of anybody doing this. Oh, and unless you get a TD block it won't have oil squirters. Are you sure you can't just hone a G60 or a 16v block? Usually the 1.8's will take a hone, it's the 2L's you have to watch out for.

Thanks for the help. I just found out it would cost me $90 to clean/sonic check my diesel block. It would cost an additional $270 to bore it out. The machine shop charges $90 for a single pass on a 4cyl. It would take 3 cuts to get to the desired bore.

Like you said. I'll probably just hone the 1.8 block I have already.
